News of Note December 2021
Hi Everyone,
As we get closer to the end of the year, I am looking back at all the amazing events we have been able to accomplish, despite being in the midst of a pandemic. We had a productive planning meeting in June as well as an informal Sharing Session in July. Fall started off with a General Meeting and an interesting presentation on Performance Anxiety and Musician Wellness. The Dorothy Sutton Festival took place in October, fun as always. And we were able to get Jason McDevitt to conduct a workshop on the piano in November. December saw our first posting of a virtual recital. In the meantime, several of my students are working hard on their Musical Bridges projects; hope yours are too!
As always, keep checking the website for details on all events.
VIRTUAL STUDENT RECITALS
Enjoy our December Virtual Recital, posted on the website. Many thanks to the students who participated. It is a wonderful compilation!
These recitals are open to students of all ages, levels, and abilities. There is no restriction on repertoire and memory is not required, although selections should be performance ready. Teachers should view the videos before uploading.
Second registration deadline: February 1, 2022 Register online
Recital posted: February 10, 2022
MUSICAL BRIDGES
Students should be now preparing their foundation pieces and working on their portfolios for Musical Bridges. This is a nice project for students who want to enhance their musical knowledge by exploring the connection between music and other art forms. Complete information is on the website (HERE) and can be downloaded.
Video submissions due: January 1 – February 1, 2022
Projects due to teachers: February 1, 2022
Display of projects will be sometime in the Spring
MEETING/SHARING SESSION: January 21, 2022
Our next gathering is on January 21, 2022 at Immanuel UCC Fellowship Hall at 10:00 am. We will be having a brief General Meeting to discuss the upcoming events of 2022 and then a Sharing Session will follow. If you have never been to a Sharing Session, please consider attending. These meetings are very beneficial for discussing studio issues as well as a lot of fun!
