“History and healing of the harp:” Learn about the history of this ancient instrument, how it works, and how it is still used for healing and important moments today.
WENDY THOMPSON is a Hospital-Certified Master Harp Therapist and has played her small soothing harp for thousands of people in hospitals over the past decade. In addition to playing for healthcare providers, patients and families, Wendy is passionate about bringing the calming nature of the harp to new and unique settings. For example, she held a harp meditation for teachers. Playing the harp can be a wonderful stress relief for many people, as it has been for Wendy. She shares her love of music with her “Education and Entertainment” programs at retirement centers, Berks County Holiday Lights, and other community events. She has played her harp at weddings, banquets, and memorial services. She has also been playing the piano for almost 50 years, and enjoys playing ragtime, classical, pop and much more. She also played the flute and saxophone in various ensembles for many years from middle school through college. Currently Wendy teaches harp and piano at the Yocum Institute for the Arts in West Lawn.
